Dr. Modi spent the entirety of the appointment telling me how I've gained 11 lbs in a year and "HAVE TO LOSE WEIGHT." Instead of offering support, she prescribed a glp1 which I cannot even afford. She told me that it would be a lifetime commitment and I would "only lose about 50 lbs, then gain it right back" if I ever stopped the medication. Dr. Modi told me to "count calories" and not to exceed over 1,600-1,800 in a day. I left the appointment feeling so ashamed. It was cruel. She has not ordered a simple a1c test or further labs to determine safe measures for treating fatty liver. It was demeaning and after 9 or more years, I will be switching to a new PCP. I hope she doesn't speak this way to anyone struggling with low self-esteem, depression, suicidal ideation, or an eating disorder.
