Curricular Tracks
Hospital Medicine Track
Additional Requirements:
- Complete and maintain ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications
- Attend at least one Hospital Medicine CME during residence
- Critical appraisal and presentation of at least one journal club article related to Hospital Medicine (at journal club)
- Present a Hospitalist Medicine related topic during weekly didactics
- Completion of a scholarly project relevant to Hospitalist Medicine (including, but not limited to: original research, clinical or educational quality improvement project, case podium presentation, poster presentation, written case report, review article) and presentation of the project within the residency or a separate acceptable local, regional or national forum.
Sports Medicine Track
Additional Requirements:
- Must attend at least one national sports medicine conference (AMSSM, ACSM or Advanced Team Physician Course during residency)
- Establish at least one year continuity experience with a local or regional sports team or school
- Present a Sports Medicine related topic during weekly didactics
- Completion of a scholarly project relevant to Sports Medicine (including, but not limited to: original research, clinical or educational quality improvement project, case podium presentation, poster presentation, written case report, review article) and presentation of the project within the residency or a separate acceptable local, regional or national forum.
- Participation in pre-participation sports physicals as call schedule allows
- Critical appraisal and presentation of a journal club article related to sports medicine (at journal club)
Emergency Medicine/Urgent Care Track
Additional Requirements:
- Complete and maintain ACLS, BLS, NRP, ALSO certifications during residency
- Must complete ATLS for CME during residency
- Critical appraisal and presentation of at least one journal club article related to Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care Medicine (at journal club)
- Present an Emergency Medicine or Urgent Cared Medicine related topic during weekly didactics
- Completion of a scholarly project relevant to Emergency or Urgent Care Medicine (including, but not limited to: original research, clinical or educational quality improvement project, case podium presentation, poster presentation, written case report, review article) and presentation of the project within the residency or a separate acceptable local, regional or national forum.
Obstetrical Track
Additional requirements:
- 80 vaginal deliveries
- 20 C-sections (at least serving as the first assist)
- 5 Vacuum Deliveries
- Assist or perform 5 BTL
- Complete and maintain ALSO and NRP certifications
- Must attend the AAFP Maternity Care Conference at least once during residency
- Develop proficiency in episiotomy and perineal laceration repair
- Critical appraisal and presentation of at least one journal club article related to Maternity Care (at journal club)
- Present a Maternity Care related topic during weekly didactics
- Completion of a scholarly project relevant to Obstetrics/Maternity Care (including, but not limited to: original research, clinical or educational quality improvement project, case podium presentation, poster presentation, written case report, review article) and presentation of the project within the residency or a separate acceptable local, regional or national forum.
Geriatric Medicine Track
Additional Requirements:
- Attend a national geriatric conference such as AAFP Geriatric Medicine or the American Geriatrics Society Annual Meeting
- Critical appraisal and presentation of at least one journal club article related to Geriatric Care (at journal club)
- Present a Geriatric related topic during weekly didactics
- Completion of a scholarly project relevant to Geriatric Care (including, but not limited to: original research, clinical or educational quality improvement project, case podium presentation, poster presentation, written case report, review article) and presentation of the project within the residency or a separate acceptable local, regional or national forum.
- Assignment to care for nursing home patients, providing continuity of patient care throughout second and third years
- Elective rotations: Complete a minimum of 12 weeks of elective experiences including skilled nursing facility, wound care, palliative care, hospice, and physical medicine and rehabilitation.
If a curricular track is selected, the curriculum will have certain required blocks reducing the total number of elective blocks. The required blocks are unique to each curricular track.
