Deaconess Nursing

A message from our Chief Nurse Executive

Jennifer Chiusano, MA, BSN, RN, NE-BC

In keeping with our organization’s mission, Deaconess nurses are at the forefront of providing quality patient care with a compassionate and caring spirit.

Your ongoing commitment to safe, patient-centered care has been nationally recognized since 2013, when Deaconess Midtown Hospital, Deaconess Gateway Hospital and Deaconess Cross Pointe first received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.   Magnet Recognized - Deaconess Nursing
Since then, we’ve continued to earn re-designation due to extensive contributions and efforts from nurses throughout Deaconess Hospital, Inc.  Our Nursing Shared Governance Councils advance the profession of nursing and enhance patient care through collaboration and exchange of knowledge and ideas. As we continue to integrate our newest inpatient facilities into Deaconess Health System —Deaconess Henderson, Union County and Gibson Hospitals—this collaboration and mutual sharing of best practices between facilities within the health system gains an even stronger focus.

Ongoing professional development, education, and growth is encouraged, through Deaconess tuition reimbursement and Step Up programs, as well as Foundation funding for access to conferences benefitting nurses’ interest and specialties.

Deaconess’ vision is ‘…to be the preferred regional healthcare partner for patients, providers, employers and payers, with access to innovative, efficient, top-quality healthcare.’  Deaconess hospital-based nurses are our largest individual group of employees, making up nearly 2,000 of our 8,000+ employees. Your expertise, compassion and knowledge are key to creating the patient outcomes and patient experiences that our community—our family, friends and neighbors—deserve.
