Ayaz Shaikh, MD, FACS, FRCSC

Dr. Shaikh is an experienced surgeon with five advanced specialty fellowships, performing plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast and body. He is also specialty trained in hand surgery and procedures related to the nerves of the arm and the hand.
He received his medical degree in 1987 and completed a General Surgery Internship at Episcopal Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, followed by General Surgery Residency training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Ml. He completed a full Plastic Surgery Residency at McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, followed by an Advanced Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. He acquired specialty (board) certification in plastic surgery and went on to complete further clinical fellowships, including:
- Hand Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
- Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Carolinas Healthcare in Charlotte, NC
- Aesthetic (Cosmetic) and Breast Surgery at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH
- Advanced Breast Reconstruction at Midwest Breast and Aesthetic Surgery, Gahanna, OH
Dr. Ayaz Shaikh is an Adjunct Clinical Asst. Professor of Plastic Surgery at IU School of Medicine and a Clinical Asst. Professor of Surgery at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
He has been practicing cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery and surgery of the hand in Illinois and Indiana since completion of his training. He has served as Chair of the Department of Plastic and Hand Surgery and Vice Chair of Surgical Specialties at Indiana University Health-Arnett in Lafayette, Indiana. Always a patient advocate, he contributed on important institutional quality, patient safety and credentials committees, including the surgical standards committee as a senior member.
Dr. Shaikh is an Ambassador-Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons
, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons
and also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
He believes in holding the highest standards in surgical expertise and patient care, treating all as he would want himself to be treated. Dr. Shaikh derives a great deal of satisfaction as a plastic surgeon by creating a positive impact in his patients’ lives and improving their confidence and self-esteem.
