image of woman seated at a table with her hands together Clostridioides difficile, also known as C. diff, is a bacterium that commonly causes diarrhea, inflammation of the colon, fever and cramping. A C. diff infection can be life-threatening. About one in six people who get a C. diff infection will get it again within two months.

If you currently have a C. diff infection, you may qualify to participate in a clinical research study being conducted at Deaconess Clinic.  The study will evaluate an investigational medication for the prevention of recurrent C. Diff infection.  Participation includes all study-related exams and study medication at no cost, as well as compensation for time and travel.
