NEWBURGH - The Women’s Hospital has named C. Brennan Fitzpatrick, MD, MBA, FACOG, to the role of the first Chief Medical Officer at The Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Fitzpatrick joined The Women’s Hospital medical staff in 2008 as a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist with Tri-State Perinatology. Since then, Dr. Fitzpatrick has been a leader locally and state-wide in the effort to regionalize perinatal care in Indiana, and has been instrumental in The Women’s Hospital Level III Perinatal Center designation.

As the Chief Medical Officer for The Women’s Hospital, Dr. Fitzpatrick will serve as the administrator responsible for fostering the physician culture and high standards of care with employed/contracted physicians practicing at The Women’s Hospital. He will also work closely with Dr. JoAnn Wood, Chief Medical Officer for Deaconess Health System (DHS), serving as the primary liaison between The Women’s Hospital and other DHS medical staff and department chairs.

Since 2008, Dr. Fitzpatrick has served in the role of the Medical Director for Perinatal Medicine and Ultrasound. He will continue in this role, and in maternal fetal medicine patient care on a reduced basis, as he assumes additional administrative responsibilities.

Dr. Fitzpatrick is a native of Louisville, Kentucky and earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville. He completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, and went on to complete a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship and a master’s degree in Business Administration at Duke University.
