Deaconess, Posey County Health Department to Jointly Operate New COVID-19 Testing Site

9/4/2020
MT. VERNON – On Tuesday, September 8, Deaconess and the Posey County Health Department (PCHD) will jointly open a new drive/walk-through testing site at 232 W. 2nd Street in Mt. Vernon, near the intersection of Mill Street.

Testing site hours will be:
● Monday: 8 AM – 1 PM
● Tuesday: 12 PM – 8 PM
● Wednesday: 8 AM – 1 PM
● Thursday: 10 AM – 6 PM
● Friday: 1 PM – 5.30 PM
● Saturday: 8 AM – 1 PM
● Sunday: Closed

Those seeking testing will be able to schedule an appointment online at www.deaconess.com/testing.

This collaboration is the result of an Indiana State Department of Health grant, and will continue through June, 2021. During that time, the site will be used for testing, as well as possible vaccine administration if a vaccine becomes available.

Patients will be able to receive test results through the Deaconess MyChart app as soon as those results are available; patients without a MyChart account will also receive phone calls with positive results, but this process will not be as immediate as MyChart. Educational materials in both English and Spanish will be available at testing sites.

“Working with Deaconess will help us offer continuous local testing for our residents and will benefit local businesses, along with the school corporations in our county, as we do everything we can to protect our workers and students to help them feel safe in both the workforce and county schools,” said Kyle Rapp, MD, Posey County Health Department Officer. “Deaconess’ established drive-through testing infrastructure and extensive testing capability will help us serve even more Posey County and Indiana residents with COVID-19 testing services. The process of getting this done has truly been a collaboration between the state and county health departments, local county government officials, and Deaconess--who without their assistance this service would not be available for our county. I cannot thank enough Martye Fitts, RN, the Posey County Health Nurse, and our other health department employees--along with Deaconess officials--who have worked hard making this testing clinic possible for our community.”
