Many of the services below involve collaboration with other neurological specialists, but are coordinated and managed by Deaconess Clinic Neurologists.

Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia Diagnosis and Treatment
Includes assessment, medication and lifestyle therapies.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)
A surgical procedure approved by the FDA to treat tremor, Parkinson’s disease and dystonia. A device called a brain pacemaker is implanted in the brain where it sends electrical impulses to specific areas. The pacemaker changes brain activity in a controlled manner.

Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS)
A surgical procedure that can improve epilepsy. A device is implanted near the vagus nerve. It sends regular pulses of electrical energy to the brain via the vagus nerve. 

Electromyogram and Nerve Conduction Studies (EMG/NCS)
A diagnostic study of muscles and nerves to diagnose diseases of the muscles.  It can diagnose conditions such as herniated disc, carpal tunnel syndrome and neuropathy.

Botox Therapy
Injections of Botox to help with dystonia, spasticity and chronic migraine.

Post-Stroke Care
Ongoing care and follow-up after a stroke may include physical, occupational, and speech therapies, as well as caregiver training and support for the patient.
