James R. Porter, MD, FAAP, FACHE PresidentOriginally from southeastern Illinois, Dr. Porter has been with Deaconess since 2000, beginning his career as a hospitalist. He has held various administrative roles during his tenure and became the chief medical officer in 2006. Jared Florence, CPAJared came to Deaconess in 2012 as the director of Business Development and was promoted to vice president Business Development in 2016. Prior to joining Deaconess, Jared was executive director of Finance and Business Development for St. Mary’s Health (now Ascension) and has over 15 years of health care experience. Cherona J. Hajewski DNP, RN, NEA-BC

Cherona J. Hajewski DNP, RN, NEA-BCCherona joined Deaconess in July 2007 as vice president patient care services and chief nursing officer.  She brings 20 years of chief nurse executive experience to the position and more than 37 years of health care knowledge. Prior to joining Deaconess, Cherona was the senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, IN where she led the hospital to receive the first ANCC Magnet designation in the state.

Lynn Lingafelter, RN, MBA, FACHE

Lynn Lingafelter, RN, ACHE, AONEOriginally from Poseyville, Indiana and a 1987 graduate of Deaconess School of Nursing, Lynn began her career at Deaconess as a Registered Nurse.  She has served in leadership roles over many departments in her tenure at Deaconess. Cheryl Wathen, CPA

Cheryl Wathen, CPA Vice President and Chief Financial OfficerIn 1990, Cheryl moved from a regional accounting firm in Kentucky to Deaconess. She held various positions within the health system before her promotion to chief financial officer in 2010. Those positions include director of Internal Audit; manager of Finance and Accounting; chief financial officer for The Women’s Hospital; and controller for the health system. Allen White, MD Vice President and Chief Physician Administrative Officer, Deaconess Clinic and Ambulatory PracticesDr. White transitioned from clinical practice at Deaconess Clinic Morganfield to part-time medical director at Deaconess Clinic in 2011. As the 2008 merger of Welborn Clinic and Deaconess Medical Group began to solidify and grow into a successful organization, Dr. White accepted a full-time role as medical director and eventually vice president of Deaconess Clinic. The clinic currently has 160 physicians and advance level practitioners in 30 locations throughout Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.

Christina M. Ryan, MHA, BSN

Christina M. Ryan, MHA, BSN Chief Executive OfficerOriginally from Chicago, IL, Christina joined Deaconess in 1999 when she was recruited to help plan and open The Women’s Hospital. Before coming to Deaconess, she served as director of Women and Children’s Services at Franciscan St. Margaret Health in northwest Indiana. In partnership with the physician-owners of The Women’s Hospital, Christina is responsible for the overall operation of the hospital. That includes labor and delivery, surgery, NICU, emergency and fertility services.

Scott Branam, MBA, LMHC
Chief Administrative Officer

Scott Branam, MBA, LMHC Chief Administrative OfficerScott came to Deaconess in 2016 from IU Health - Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, IN where he served as the behavioral health service line administrative director for 10 years. In his current position, Scott oversees a 60-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital for adolescents and adults, outpatient behavioral health services, an Employee Assistance Program and chemical dependency programs.

Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital

Blake Bunner

Blake Bunner Chief Executive OfficerBlake Bunner is the CEO at Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Blake has been with Encompass since 2009 and has served in other senior leadership roles for the company. Prior to Encompass, Blake served as chief operating officer for a multi-state nurse staffing firm. He is a 3-term elected official and current president for a county fiscal body which set budgets and manages tax incentives. Blake currently serves as the president of a non-profit transportation company serving seniors and has been a board member of that organization since 2006. He is actively involved in youth sports and is the director of a church-based sports program. Blake earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University and he earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Western Governor’s University Indiana.
